Alan Walker said : 'I would describe 'Faded' as a happy yet emotional song, appropriate for both sad and/or uplifting occasions. It's about searching for someone, something or somewhere lost. Or just feeling lost! One of the things I like the most about its lyrics is that the meaning can be interpreted freely by the listener.'

Comment and share your favourite lyrics. Faded, a 2015 anthem by Norwegian producer Alan Walker, is a wonderful example of classic piano styles blended seamlessly with electronic dance music. The intro consists of four simple chords, D# minor, B Major, F# Major and C# Major, also known as the four chords of pop, arpeggiated in the left hand with a diatonic melody in the right hand. Alan Walker made this song from his another song 'Fade' (2014). The music video reached more than one and a half billion views on YouTube (February 2018). Though Iselin Solheim's vocal is used on the single, many other female singers performed the vocal part during different live shows and concerts, e.g. Tove Styrke, Zara Larsson. Your EDM felt the song 'contains all of the common Alan Walker elements that international EDM fans have come to find and love', including 'the sound design, faint dreamy vocals, the anthemic drop, and the patented Alan Walker lead'. Comparing to Faded, they deemed it 'a sleeker, more refined record'.

Spectre Lyrics
Sound of silence,
Echo in myself
Hello Hello,
Lost reliance,
A war that never ends
Is this the place that I call home,
To find what I've become
Walk along the path unknown,
We live, we love, we lie

The we live we love we lie is about the process of living. The we live is being born, the we love is getting in a relationship, and the we lie is death, as in lying in the grave. While in the lyrics is 'There's a ghost INSIDE me', after that it says: 'It all belongs to the other side', with the other side being death. This also explains the 'before i fade away'. The 'hello hello can you hear me?' is the narrator asking if they can be still be heard, and also indicates that the narrator just died. The 'deep in the dark, I don't need the light' could mean one of two things. The first is the fact that it is dark down in the grave, which it probably is. The second possibility is that the narrator is in hell, which is a very dark and evil place.

click a star to voteJan 10th, 2019 1:01pmreportThe deeper meaning of “The Spectre”: Alan Walker intended the song “the Spectre” the represent someone who fears the outcome of breakup. This is mainly represented by the lyrics of the song, using fear, “as I scream your name; before I fade away; deep in the dark... there's a ghost inside of me; nice to meet you voice inside my head.” But also using awe and love, “can you hear me; do you need me; we live ,we love, we lie;” the connotations represent resent, fear, love, and awe. Furthermore, the deeper meaning lies in the song title “The Spectre.” The word spectre, also known as specter, means ‘a ghost, something widely feared as a possible unpleasant or dangerous occurrence.’ however, not only is there the word ‘Spectre’ but is “the Spectre” joined by a determiner, creates the term, “the Spectre” to be an adjective to describe “Alan Walker” as frightful and fearful. Thus, in between the lines, Alan Walker intended, to resemble someone who fears the outcome of breakup.

The song seems to refer how the host is trapped within this spirit with the use of 'hello hello' but also how humans as a collective are not amazing people and how they 'live, love and lie'. The host is compelled to bring justice and so could be in conflict with themselves if they do not want to leave their earthly attatchments.

click a star to voteDec 3rd, 2019 12:49pmreportWell.... maybe this is about missing someone who is lost forever. 'the ghost inside' might mean the ghost of their memories still linger in the singer's mind, although they can't see the lover. And the singer thinks the loss is her(ok, I'm a girl so I'll say her.)fault, by saying 'We live, we love, we lie.' therefore, we can infer the one is lost because of the girl's lies, that she bitterly regrets that.

To me it can mean ma y things the first is to die a loving life, a life of lies, and a fully filled life where we accomplished our dreams. I dont need a light probably means that its the persons place inside of them there mind is probably a dark place.

click a star to voteDec 24th, 2018 12:27amreportI think it's about someone who is fighting with himself/herself inside his head, and is debating what he could have done differently- nice to meet you, voice inside my head, and also about someone who is suffering from a breakup- can you hear me as i scream your name. He might be describing his relationship- we live, we love, we lie, and how the relationship was impure, but he is suffering without it.

click a star to voteAug 29th, 2018 8:29amreportIts to me about feeling alone lost in this world trying to find a home.we live we love wr lie. Its how existence started out so strong and now is full of lies. We live for love but all we do is lie. And its ok because in the end the only thing that matters is the ghost the being inside that will fade away. So ill be here now to live to love to lie if it brings hope and peace because i found home and its not here.
